Extra Credit Opportunities

Earn 25 extra credit points by visiting the Y.A.M. (Yellowstone Art Museum) this Saturday during the Smithsonian Museum day. No admission will be charged. To see the special exhibits that students viewed today, go to their website. Have museum staff stamp a brochure or card with the horse logo and write a short description of your favorite piece of art.


If your Saturday is booked to the max, another opportunity for free admission is during the October 3rd Art Walk. Visit downtown galleries and the museum from 5-9. An extra 10 points if you name an artist whose work is up in the small works show at the Toucan Gallery on Montana Avenue. You can get a map at the first gallery you visit or print one off here.

7th grade 3-D art resources

7th graders have been studying about turning shapes into forms. We have value scales in our sketchbooks and we taked about forms having 1,2,3,4, or 5 levels of value (5 being the darkest). To refresh our skills we followed a Mark Kistler online lesson for creating a treasure chest.


Now we are creating our own imagination scenes with cities or castles or space colonies. Here is an online tutorial for creating a 3-D castle.

7th graders are reviewing the Elements by creating a poster collage.

8th graders are putting their group skills to work with a sculpture for the Yellowstone Art Museum.
